Met a special someone on match. You are not my type. Thank you for your comments regarding our accommodation and we are delighted to reveal that we will be introducing a number of new Platinum caravans in which take the traditional static caravan to a whole new level, while also updating some of our existing models. With regards to our entertainment programme, this was updated in due to staff retiring, moving on, etc. As a result, we re-branded our two fantastic entertainment offerings to form two separate venues offering different styles to cater for a wider range of tastes, both of which we advertise in our Entertainment Guide which is given to each guest on arrival, together with our Display Boards outside the Starlight Cabaret Bar and Oceans Bar.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Beverley Holidays again soon. This was my family's 3rd visit this year to Beverley Park we average 2 a year during peak times but have never stayed on the second site at Beverley Bay, formerly Ashvale but have used the Ocean's bar. I have to be honest, that although I have raved over the years and introduced family and friends to the park, I feel I can no longer do this after our visits this year until changes are made.
However, I would seriously like to ask "what went wrong? If I didn't know any better, I'd have thought the site had been sold to new owners trying to save a few bob. I know they have been there probably as long as I have lived, but they used to be so so clean. After closing for an hour a few times a day to be cleaned they used look like they could have just been built apart from the dated tiling. Now, toilet paper is frequently missing, built up dirt around the bottom of doors and showers and general tiredness of the facilities; and this was after cleaning.
However the music that is played is still there and is nice to hear whilst having a shower. I cant say too much about the launderette as I love it in there. I've met some really lovely people in there. However, a change machine in reception would be a welcome addition as I understand it is not that secure in the launderette which isn't patrolled and the shop rarely has enough change and the arcade is unmanned during the day. The outdoor pool area is now very inaccessible to say the least. There used to be 5 entrances to the outdoor pool. Now there are only 2.
The 2 entrances by the showers have been blocked off, as has the main gate by the entrance to the Oasis centre forcing you to either go through the indoor centre or wait until they have opened the gates at the far end by the kids indoor play area, which was opened late on a few occasions.
Selby to Paignton - 7 ways to travel via train, car, plane, and taxi
I am told this is because locals have been going in and using the pool. Trust me, they will still use the entrance at the play area if they want to get in Also if you don't get a sunbed by 9am, forget it and don't leave it for longer than 20 minutes as you will lose it.
But it is a lovely sun trap and a delight to stay there all day long. The kids outdoor park and the tennis court look tired and need a spruce up. No more can be said about that as they are free to use, however, the outdoor mini golf is not free and needs urgent repairs to it. From what I have read and experienced, at least one of the holes has needed repair since the beginning of the season! The arcade is now not manned during the day The food was always reasonable in the Upperdeck and also in the Galley, however we tend to eat out at local restaurants as tables are few and people do like to sit at them for the evening.
My family and I have stayed in nearly all the different types of accommodation at Beverley Holidays from lodges to a tent. I have to say the staff in general appear to go out of their way to assist. On the 2 occasions I have taken a tent it has rained so bad the family have upgraded to a caravan and the staff did everything they did to assist at very reasonable prices. The caravans have everything you need in them, more so the lodges, and I have never had cause for complaint. Until this year.
As the years have gone by the caravans have got older. Some of the really old caravans have been upgraded to brand new caravans but the price reflects this. In fact some of the prices are just down right cheeky now. All 3 visits this year my family stayed in a caravan. Not many complaints on the first 2 visits in May and July, apart from uncomfortable mattress, so had to buy a duvet to go under the bottom sheet. Also, the accommodation in October was damp. As was the bedding. No point in complaining as all the caravans would have been the same.
I had the heating on constantly even when the ftemperature in October soared to around 21 deg C!! Even with this I had left a t-shirt on the floor and it also felt damp, Not the usual high standards we are used to there. I have found myself hiring the cheaper caravans as they have more space, or at least feel like they do. However, if a light needed changing or a fire element needed replacing, the maintenance team were there within half an hour to fix this and were very very polite.
Gay Dating
Finally I will come to the entertainment, as any loyal Beverley customer will tell you that is the highlight of the visit. This was really good as Chris, Derry, Tony whom we really miss and Derek would just get the kids and adults joining in and meeting new people. If you didn't leave your holiday with at least one new friend, something was wrong. Gone are the days of the entertainment team getting onto the dance floor and joining in although Chris and Derry did get in there this year. It is what the kids want. What they don't want is corporate uniforms with badges and 15 minute intervals of disco on loop being told to "get a drink" whilst they play some "disco"!
We want it to appear ad hoc, we want the team to look like one of us and get the kids on the dance floor and out of their shells and we want to feel like part of the team also, like before. No matter which of the entertainments team you bumped into, you was able to have a quick chat and feel like you had been remembered, only Chris and Derry did that this year. The introduction of Beverley Bear has gone down well with the kids but I feel they are going down the corporate route of other well know holiday camps, which is what those of us who go to Beverley year in year out want to avoid!
Now every previous guest will tell you they had their favourite when it comes to the entertainment; they preferred either the Starlight Bar on Beverley Park or Oceans bar at Beverley Bay Ashvale. My family and I prefer the Starlight bar, they got it so right with Jubilee and the team of the time.
However, this year they have moved all the teams due to Derek retiring and Tony very very sadly passing away, to the Starlight Bar but the new routines etc just haven't worked. I have never heard so many complaints. Well you can guess where this is leading given it is predominantly a family holiday park It is chaos now and not very enjoyable. I think Chris and Derry's talents have been completely overshadowed now. Although Matt is clearly a very talented singer, his constant childishness doesn't go down well during the adult shows.
And we don't really need to hear how great him and Simon think they are. He could do with looking back at how it was, time for kids and time for adults! We are all there on holiday. Chris knew how to get that balance and it worked. I do not accept the managements report of changes due to customer feedback The shows have been good but I couldn't say amazing; now the Piano Bar was amazing, the talent Roger has is second to none! I have to also say, i think they lads got the graveyard sketch in the Halloween week dead wrong, in fact I was a little offended by the 'gay' twist on it.
Bingo, audience participation and game shows are sadly missed at Starlight as the money raised for Charity was humbling. I don't like bingo but took part in order to contribute to the awesome work Chris does for Cancer Research UK. I don't think there is anything wrong with a little bit of old fashioned family fun. I feel like another reviewer that is feels more like a kids party than a family holiday.
In a nut shell things have got to improve for people to want to come back, especially as it would be as costly to go abroad for similar prices. Maybe the standards have just been too high in previous years that when standards slip, it is noticed. I really don't want to spend money going there again, but I know I will to see if things have changed next season.
If anything to just relax with the breathtaking view of Torbay from most places on the park. We are delighted to hear that you have visited our family-run holiday park on a number of occasions throughout the year. We will be sure to pass all your comments on to our various department heads and who will of course take your invaluable feedback into account for We would like to take this opportunity to assure our guests that our housekeeping teams take great pride in maintaining the cleanliness of our facilities which are cleaned at regular intervals throughout the day.
Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Furthermore, our on-site security team can be found on the park throughout the year to ensure all our facilities such as the laundrette, arcade, etc, are secure for our guests, while our Reception team are on hand to assist with any issues related to our arcade. With regards to the access points for our outdoor swimming pool, we feel that two entrances are an adequate number for our guests while also allowing us to ensure we monitor those coming to and from the swimming pool for safety purposes.

Thank you again for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are very sorry that you felt disappointed with your recent visit to our holiday park and we very much hope to welcome you back soon. The Oceans bar is now a ghost town, the entertainment team has been forced across the road to the main Beverley site.
You have to cross a the road to access this site, some of the cars travel very fast and there is a blind bend in both directions of travel, we felt unable to let our son go alone. Oceans had it perfect in previous years and catered for all. Pool table at Oceans, both cues missing tips.
