It is a clearly fictionalised account that examines attitudes towards homosexuality at the time and the inhumane treatment of individuals, Alan Turing in particular. As to be expected with David Lagercrantz it is well written and researched. I had previously enjoyed his follow up novel to the Stig Larsson Millennium series.

Wonderfully written as a crime fiction novel but covering the sad demise of Alan Turing and the real experience of the young policeman who found Turing after his death. Terrifying reality of the attitude to the brilliant man Turing based purely on the fact that he was a homosexual - makes one ashamed of our past history - not really so very long ago!
What a fantastic book. As a peice of fiction this book has everything. A slow burner but worth the effort. One small very small criticism, the total eclipse of was not total in the uk, and there would be no darkening of the skies in Cambridge. It was however total in the south of Sweden - hmm? Read and enjoy! Intriguing look at the events surrounding the death of Alan Turing, of Bletchley Park code-breaking fame. A very different angle from the stories told in Enigma and Imitation Game, Here the detective investigating the death is trying to understand Turing's state of mind in the days leading up to his suicide, while fighting his own demons.
I enjoyed this book. A fasinating insight into the world surrounding Alan Turing. Having read his books continuing the girl with the dragon tattoo, i thought i would try this one.
